Offline Terror Zone Tracker
This tracker is for offline / single-player only. It reads a precomputed schedule derived from the game’s desecrated-zones seed and your local clock. Online Battle.net uses a different seed, so treat the in-game announcement as the source of truth there.
Practical routine: check the list when you sit down, note when a good zone for your damage type is coming, and farm classic spots — see our best farming spots guide — while you wait out the bad windows.
How the Terror Zone schedule works
Since Patch 3.0 the rotation ticks over every 30 minutes — on the hour and on the half-hour — replacing the hourly cadence the system launched with in Patch 2.5. Each window terrorizes a cluster of neighboring zones rather than a single area: one window might cover Black Marsh together with The Hole and the Forgotten Tower cellars, another the Lost City together with the Valley of Snakes, Claw Viper Temple and Ancient Tunnels. Some prime targets, like Chaos Sanctuary, Tal Rasha's Tombs and the Secret Cow Level, form their own single-zone clusters. The mechanics of scaling and bonuses are covered in our Terror Zones explained guide.
To you the next zone looks random — there is no in-game schedule beyond the announcement when it changes. Under the hood it is a deterministic pseudo-random sequence driven by a seed in the game data. Offline uses a published seed, so the whole calendar can be computed ahead of time; online’s seed is server-side, so only the live announcement (and short-horizon community predictions) are reliable. Zones that were never terrorizable before Reign of the Warlock (Frozen Tundra, the Infernal Pit, Tamoe Highland and others) are now in the pool, so ignore pre-expansion zone lists.
Terror Zones in offline / single-player mode
Offline Terror Zones rotate on the same 30-minute timer but run independently of the online servers, on a fixed and fully predictable sequence. To unlock them you must first kill Baal on that difficulty, then enable Terror Zones at the character select screen (the gear icon).
Two offline-only perks are worth knowing. First, because the sequence is fixed, you can change your device’s system clock to land on the offline zone you want — this does nothing for online play. Second, offline mode supports the /players X command, so you can scale density and drops freely while farming a terrorized zone. What offline does not have is trading and multiplayer, so the loot economy is entirely your own.
Season 15 Terror Zone tier list
Community farming tier lists (for example Maxroll’s Season 15 ranking) sort every zone by value for a geared level-94+ character — elite pack count, density, monster types and how fast you can reach the packs. The top of the list for the current patch:
- S-tier: Canyon of the Magi, Worldstone Keep, Chaos Sanctuary, Cathedral, Rocky Waste, Black Marsh, Flayer Jungle, Tamoe Highland, the Kurast zones (Bazaar, Upper, Lower, Causeway) and Tal Rasha's Tombs / Throne of Destruction windows.
- A-tier: Dry Hills, Act 2 Sewers, Crystalline Passage, Cold Plains, Nihlathak's Temple, Lost City (with Ancient Tunnels), Glacial Trail, Barracks, Spider Forest, Outer Steppes, City of the Damned and River of Flame.
- Avoid unless they suit you: Far Oasis, Burial Grounds and Durance of Hate sit in D-tier, and Blood Moor is alone at the bottom in F.
Treat the tier list as a starting point, not a verdict. A C-tier zone full of monsters your build deletes beats an S-tier zone stacked with immunities you cannot break — check the zone’s immunity types in the tracker above against your damage before committing a window. Builds that clear dense packs fastest, like the current Warlock builds, extract the most from each 30-minute rotation.
What Patch 3.3 changed for TZ farming
The Season 15 patch retuned the reward side of terrorized content, per the official notes:
- Heralds of Terror at tier 3 and above now have a higher chance to drop rare-or-better items.
- The minimum drop level for Latent sunder charms rose from 69 to 75, and Latent charms found via magic find now only drop in Hell difficulty, at a reduced rate — Herald drops are unaffected. Details in our sunder charms guide.
- Worldstone Shards — the consumables that let you terrorize a whole act yourself — now drop with one extra item alongside them, but drop less often; Ancient Statues also drop less often.
- A bug where Council Members acting as Heralds dropped nothing has been fixed.
Net effect: Herald hunting inside terrorized zones pays slightly better, while passive magic-find farming for Latent sunders pays worse. Plan your TZ windows around Herald encounters, and keep the Season 15 start date in mind if you are reading this before the ladder opens.
